The Monogram brief was a first-year assignment that started with the two typefaces of Times New Roman and Helvetica. We were to choose a single letter of the alphabet, and modify it by hand. The finished product was the only part of the assignment to be done digitally.
I chose the letter Y and started with pages of marker scribbles.
By this stage I had about fifteen pages of concept work. Above is about three of those pages.
After choosing a direction through my concepts, I developed the idea over a few more pages.
So here's the final stages.
Above is the final monogram in Black and CMYK Blue
It was then made into a logo mark.
